YPN has built a strong relationship with Rocky Mount Business Builders, a weekly referral and information-sharing group that includes the owners of many recognizable local businesses. These networking groups meet every Wednesday and Thursday at 11:45 a.m. at the Golden Corral on Wesleyan Boulevard in Rocky Mount.
Through our participation in this organization, YPN recruited additional members and partners for activities and programs and learned more about the significance of locally-based businesses in Rocky Mount's present and future economy.
Bonnie O'Reilly with the Hampton Inn of Rocky Mount joined YPN after learning more about our programs through Business Builders. She believes that the partnership is "a wonderful idea. It is a great opportunity for both groups to expand the business networking community" throughout Rocky Mount.
Bonnie is not the only Business Builders member to recently join YPN. Others include Erin Gall or Allegra Printing, Wayne Holloman of Northgreen Golf Club, and Clint Williams of Freedom Credit Union, who organized the group several years ago.
Business Builders focuses on the importance of referral-based networking to cultivate business opportunities between members. Participation in each networking group is exclusive in that only business is represented per industry in order to prevent competition within the group.
YPN's participation has also facilitated the introduction of our members and their businesses in to the Business Builder network. YPN member Kristen Lemaire with MSH Insurance began representing her firm at Business Builders meetings in the spring of 2009.
"The biggest benefits of Business Builders are that it has introduced me to new business owners and given me the opportunity to broaden my avenues with all of the new people I have met," Kristen said. "Current YPN members could benefit by joining business builders because it is a totally different type of group that focuses on each person's line of business and gives them ideas how to enhance their business, even if they are not a business owner."
Both Wednesday and Thursday groups continue to look for additional businesses to join and add to their ability to grow business opportunities for all members. For any YPN member, whether you work for or own a local business, this is one of the best means available to develop the relationships and local knowledge necessary to fulfill personal and professional goals and meet expectations for achievement.
